Historically, minority owned companies have suffered from a lack of access to capital, resources, and have had a less than proportionate level of retail distribution. Since Black people in the U.S. make up nearly 15% of the population, the 15 Percent Pledge calls on retailers to commit a minimum of 15% of their shelf to Black-owned businesses
