What Well Known Woman Inspires You? #WomensHistoryMonth

Hey there, curlies, coilies, and wavies! Did you know that there are many women who work hard to make sure that you get the best products and experience when you choose TréLuxe?! And guess what many on the team are curlies, wavies and coilies too! As we round out Women’s History Month, we decided to loop in to find out sources of inspiration for #TeamTréLuxe. We asked one simple question: What well known woman past or present inspires you and why? We’re so excited to share the responses!

Alex — Marketing Specialist

“I live in a constant state of fear, but I don’t let it stop me. I’ve learned that what is out of your control, don’t stress about it.” — Clara Pablo

Clara Pablo is currently the SVP of Global Marketing for a top Latin artist management company, and she’s one of Billboard’s 2023 Women in Music. Clara is truly a powerhouse executive in the Latin music industry. To watch her career, not only as a woman, but as a Latina, is so inspiring to me, as I have such a love for Latin music and this industry.

In addition to her incredible career, Clara became an advocate for breast cancer, after being diagnosed at just 36 years old and learning that it’s the number one cause of death in Latin women under 40. She explained that for 5 years, no matter where she was, her life had to be put on hold every 28 days for treatment. She’s now officially cancer free, and she continues to do her part to raise awareness through her nonprofit “Te Toca Tocarte.” Clara is such an inspiration for me both personally and professionally.

Cheryl — Logistics Coordinator

"You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anyone." — Maya Angelou

To me, Maya Angelou continues to be a positive force that can touch the lives of everyone. You can meditate on / read Maya Angelou's writing until you finally say, "Aha, I got it." Here are a few more of Maya’s quotes that stand out to me!

  • "Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently."
  • "You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them."
  • "Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time."

Cortney — Co-Founder & Creative Director

“If I fall, I’ll fall 5 ft, 4 inches closer to freedom, I’m not backing off!” — Fannie Lou Hamer

This quote speaks to her tenacity, dogmatic passion, and inflexibility towards freedom for black people. Fannie Lou Hamer had nothing, she was not well educated or taught, but she used what she had to make a way for black people to have access to what their white counterparts had and live in dignity. She is a representation of what courage, boldness, and selflessness looks like.

Josannah — Marketing Editor

“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”

— Corrie ten Boom

What do you do in the face of fear? Corrie ten Boom woke up every day and decided to fight it by hiding Jews in her home to protect them from Nazi persecution. The efforts of her family saved the lives of nearly 800 people! She inspires me to be brave for every challenge that comes my way. I love her quote, because it is such a good reminder that if we waste time worrying, we are missing out on the strength we need to thrive each day. If you are not familiar with Corrie ten Boom’s story, I encourage you to learn more about her courageous life.

Shana — Social Media Coordinator

"No man or woman who tries to pursue an ideal in his or her own way is without enemies." — Daisy Bates

I admire her strength and resilience after being through such a traumatic experience at such a young age. Her organization, along with the NAACP, in heading up the Little Rock Nine is very inspiring and in some way I see myself in her.

We hope that our #TréLuxeTribe will find fresh inspiration and confidence through the stories of these outstanding women, and we are grateful for the contributions that they have made. Now, it’s your turn! What well known woman inspires you? Share your thoughts in the comments, we can’t wait to hear from you!
