NATURAL INGREDIENTS

A

Aloe Vera Juice

— Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice. A superb hydrator for dry hair and skin; the juice of the Aloe plant is obtained from the inside of its leaves. Aloe works as a humectant, attracting moisture to hair and skin.

Apricot Oil

— Prunus Armeniaca Kernel oil. An emollient, similar in composition to almond oil, it has softening and smoothing effects on the hair and skin. Apricot oil is lighter than many other oils but still provides great sheen.

Avocado Oil

— Persea Gratissima oil.  Obtained from the fruit pulp of avocados, the emollient is also a good source of vitamins A, D and E, amino acids, and sterols. Herbalists have traditionally used avocado oil to treat dry skin conditions. Avocado oil is lightweight, and is easily absorbed.

Broccoli Seed Oil

- Brassica Oleracea Italica oil. Obtained from the seeds of the same plant that produces broccoli, broccoli seed oil is an emollient that provides luster and sheen, while also aiding in hair detangling.

C

Caprylic/Capric triglyceride

—Lightweight emollient derived from coconut oil that helps balance moisture and add spread-ability to crèmes and lotions.

Carrageenan

— Chondrus Crispus. A food-grade seaweed gum. Carrageenan is a natural ingredient that can be used as a natural stabilizer, binding agent, and emulsifier.

Cetyl Alcohol

— The long-chain fatty alcohols from coconut palm kernels, which are natural emollients.  Cetyl alcohol adds thickness to products and helps keep them together (working as an emulsifier) Cetyl alcohol is not a drying alcohol.

Coconut Milk

—The milk obtained from coconuts. A natural hair and skin hydrator.

Coconut Oil

— Cocos Nucifera oil. Rich emollient expressed from coconuts. A multi-functional ingredient that helps to smooth, condition, and add shine to hair. One of the most widely used natural hair care ingredients.

Coconut Water

- The water obtained from coconuts. Rich in vitamins and hydrating to hair and skin.

Grape Seed Extract

— Vitis Vinifera extract. A natural antioxidant that also has moisturizing properties. Antioxidants help to fight against cell damage to hair and skin by protecting the cells from oxidative damage.

Honey

— A natural humectant used to add moisture to hair.

Juniper Berry Extract-

Juniperus Communis fruit extract. Juniper is a small evergreen shrub, which produces fruit that has been used for centuries for medicinal and food flavoring purposes. More recently, Juniper extract has become used for its soothing aromatherapy qualities and antiseptic benefits.

K

Keratin Amino Acids-

A blend of amino acids that work to condition hair. Amino acids form the building blocks of the proteins found in hair. Keratin amino acids can penetrate the hair shaft, enhancing the moisturizing effects.

Marshmallow Root Extract

— Althaea Officinalis root extract. Marshmallow is a plant; its leaves and roots have traditionally been used to address a variety of skin and hair issues. Marshmallow Root Extract is used to help soften, detangle, and moisturize hair.

P

Palm Fruit Extract

— Elaeis Guineensis extract. Obtained from the fruit of the West African palm tree. Palm includes essential vitamins, and also works as an antioxidant, helping to fight free radical damage to hair.

Panthenol

— (Provitamin B-5) A derivative of Vitamin B5. Panthenol is a potent moisturizer which also has emollient properties that help to: detangle and smooth hair strands, retain moisture, and add shine. Panthenol can also penetrate the hair shaft to help nourish hair.

Rice Extract

— Oryza Sativa extract. Rice is one of the most important cultivated crops in modern history. More recently, rice extract has been found to be a hair hydrator, which can also work in combination with other ingredients to help strengthen hair.

S

Sage Extract

— Salvia Officinalis extract. Obtained from the leaves of the Sage plant native to the Mediterranean, Sage extract is used for its soothing and antibacterial properties for hair and scalp.

Shea Butter

— Butyrospermum Parkii. A rich butter obtained from the shea nuts of West and Central Africa, Shea Butter is an emollient high in fatty acids. It is an ideal ingredient for hair and skin moisturizers and conditioners.

Slippery Elm Extract-  

Ulmus Fulva extract. The inside bark of the Slippery Elm tree has been used for centuries for a variety of medicinal purposes by Native Americans. Extract of the slippery inner bark provides smoothing and detangling benefits to hair.

Soybean Seed Extract

- Glycine Soja extract. Obtained from the beans of the Soybean plant, soybean extract functions as a natural antioxidant, helping to fight free radicals that can damage hair and skin. T

— Tocopheryl Acetate. Recognized for adding softness and promoting hair growth, Vitamin E also has natural preservative properties.

Water

- Hydrator, moisturizer, and solvent. Aside from providing moisture to hair, water acts as a solvent, dissolving many of the other ingredients used in a hair care formula to impart benefits to hair.

X

Xanthan Gum

—A natural, sugar-like, polysaccharide gum, used as a natural thickener, product stabilizer, and emulsifier. Xanthan is also found in food products from salad dressings to ice cream.
