How to Care for Wavy Hair Between Washes

Struggling to get your waves to last past day 1? — We get it! Waves can be tricky. Trying to find the solution to frizz and definition without weighing your waves down can seem to be a never-ending puzzle, but don’t you worry! We’ve got two perfect products and a few tips and tricks that will help your waves last until your next wash day.

New Kid on the Block — Aloe Vera Curl Primer

We just launched our Aloe Vera Curl Primer, and it’s the perfect product for refreshing your waves between wash days. Take a quarter-sized amount of our Aloe Vera Curl Primer and glaze it over your waves to help manage any unwanted frizz and flyaways. This product can be used on wet or dry hair! The wetting agents in this primer use the moisture in your hair and the environment for hydration, so you can skip the addition of water with this refresh!

Now, if you really want to maximize your waves and minimize the care between washes, use our Aloe Vera Curl Primer on wash day first! After cleansing your hair, apply our primer before your styling products. This will help extend your wash day results, make detangling a breeze, and decrease your drying time. It’s our best secret to achieve waves for days!

Our Tried and True  — ReFlex Curl Styling Serum

If you’ve been a part of our #TréLuxeTribe for a little while now, you know that our go-to for any refresh is our ReFlex serum. ReFlex can be used wet or dry! If you’re trying to manage some frizz and flyaways, glaze a dime-sized amount of product over your waves. If you’re looking for more of a full refresh, lightly dampen your waves with water and then apply ReFlex and gently scrunch to encourage definition. Then, say hello to your shiny, smooth, and refreshed waves!

Sleep Well and Make Sure Your Waves Do Too!

Protect your waves while you sleep! Sleep on a satin pillowcase instead of a regular cotton one. Trust us, it’s well worth the investment. Satin pillowcases are gentler on your waves (and your skin too!). Another popular way to watch out for your waves while sleeping is to put your hair up in a “pineapple.” This means loosely pulling your waves up into a ponytail at the top of your head. It’ll help protect your waves and avoid you squashing them while you sleep. Incorporating one of these two overnight protection methods into your nightly routine will help your waves make it through the nights between washes.

Overnight Braid It Out!

Now, let’s say you’ve reached a day where you feel like definition is barely there, but you don’t want to wash your hair just yet. — Let us introduce you to overnight braids! Apply our Aloe Vera Curl Primer or our Untie the Knot Nourishing Leave-in Conditioner first, and then braid your hair once it’s mostly dry. The bigger the sections of hair, the looser the waves will be. Sleep in the braids or let them sit for a few hours, and then run your fingers through them when you take them out. Apply a little bit of ReFlex or our Curl Defining Mousse for hold, and say hello to newly defined waves.

Are you ready to conquer those waves now? We hope these tips and tricks get you a few more days between wash days and make figuring out your waves a little less of a headache!
