The whole picturesque hand stand in nature vibe is not likely the reality for most of us curlies who enjoy a solid workout lol. Staying active probably looks more like hitting the treadmill at the gym or following along with a workout video at home.

We’ve got you covered with some key tips just for the workout crew! Grab a healthy-ish snack (popcorn counts as a vegetable, right?) and get ready to take in some valuable info and inspo to hit your workout without taking a hit to your curls.
So you’ve had a recent #washday, and let’s be honest the thought of risking messing up all of that hair care work for the sake of a workout can make it tempting to just skip running, or pilates or even shooting hoops with your kiddos. Don’t skimp on staying active for the sake of your curls! Instead get prepped to success when it comes to a workout with a curly crown.
Prep Your Curls for a Workout
The goal here is to keep hair out of your way, prevent it from soaking in sweat on your neck and to preserve your hair pattern. Curly girls can benefit from doing a loose pineapple with a scrunchie, often used for overnight preservation, during workouts. To make the pineapple more secure for the movement of say a run or a bike ride, grab one more scrunchie and secure hair into a loose pineapple bun. Then secure the outer scrunchie with several claw clips. Your hair will stay in place and your curl pattern will be preserved for after your workout!
Another option would be to do looser braids, especially for wavy girls. Now, you know how you need to mix up your workout? Well the same goes for your curly workout styles. Experiment with style variations such as pony tails, low buns, single and double braids and don’t forget to change up your parts too. This will prevent your one go-to hairstyle from pulling on the same areas of your scalp and causing breakage or worse making hair fall out. So spice things up when it comes to your workout hairstyle for healthy tresses and bonus: you’ll always have a fresh looking workout style!
Post Workout Refresh
You hit your fitness goal for the day, hooray! But now it’s time for a lil’ hair workout. And I say lil’ because you absolutely do not need to do a full wash after every workout. A quicker refresh will certainly do the trick, but don’t worry we’ll cover cleansing tips later, too.
Step 1: Get that cute workout style undone ASAP. This will allow your hair and scalp to breathe and to air out the sweat.

We certainly understand that fragrances can be very subjective, and we’re working on developing more fragrance-free product offerings in the future. Please do note that “fragrance-free” does not always equal “scent-free.” Fragrance-free means that there are no additive fragrances on top of the existing ingredients. However, there is still a scent as a result of the mixing together of all the ingredients.
